Review: Hugi #20

Well, Hugi... Everybody knows it. Some love it, some hate it. We in the Afghanistan Posse have mixed opinions about it. All the same we are a bit reserved about it, as we are competitors, aiming at becoming the leading scene magazine instead of Hugi.

Is there any reason to write about Hugi #20 although everybody has read it? Sure, because many have probably not released how utterly bad it is.

First of all the title screen. A stupid alien looking like some five-year-old's painting, badly lightened and in a cage looking very pixelized. It SUCKS. Then the background. Hell, it hurts my eyes! You can't read anything! Sure you can change the background but that's too much work. Reading alone takes you enough brain capacity. And of course the music. The first tune is especially crap. I am of the opinion that a good e-mag doesn't need music at all and if it has music this can only make it worse. How can you concentrate on the texts when you hear all this crying, mumbling and whining? And the text itself of course, it's displayed in a much too small font! I have to press my nose on my 14" display in order to see anything!!

Then the articles. It's good they published Bashi's article in the issue but WHY THE FUCK DID THEY COMMENT IT? Articles should not be commented by the editor, not even at the end of the text! You want to make propaganda and then some fool who calls himself the prophet erases the impact of it... The Utopians are a cult!

Also they have just 800 kbytes of articles! That is far too little for a 3.8 mbyte download! Remember when they had 1.8 mbyte in Hugi #12 and the download size was 100 kbytes LOWER than that? A MAGAZINE WITH LESS THAN 1 MBYTE OF TEXT isn't really worth downloading at all, anyway.

So all in all it is UTTER CRAP, not worth the download. Erase it from all ftp servers, burn your floppies, throw it out of your harddisks! Such CRAAAAPPY magazines don't deserve to exist!!!!!!!!!!!!
