March 26, 1999 - The new LCD shutter glasses eyewear, ELSA 3D REVELATOR, creates an entirely new spatial display of games action. ELSA presents this 3D eyewear featuring the latest control technology (patent pending) at CeBIT '99.
The combination or ELSA's shutter glasses and an ELSA graphics board makes a new and fascinating experience of just about any game based on Microsoft's Direct3D. Normal PC monitors can display images with an astounding three-dimensional quality which is comparable with holography.
Computer games combined with modern graphics boards can indeed generate complex 3D scenes. Only, with the display of just one picture for both eyes-the monitor display-the effect is of "plain vanilla" 2D.
The ELSA 3D REVELATOR is dramatically different. In combination with an ELSA graphics board, this 3D eyewear supplies each eye with an image from a slightly different perspective in rapid succession. At an imperceptible 120 times per second (min.) this alternating image is merged by the human brain to form a truly spatial image. This stereo vision gives rise to an incredibly realistic sensation of 3D, so drawing the player into the environment of his favorite game more effectively than ever before.
The high quality of the large LCD shutter glasses, the spacing of which is fully adjustable, along with the overall ergonomic design and the low weight promise long-lasting, undiluted three-dimensional games fun at full resolution and color depth!
A collection of tools for optimizing the performance are supplied with the ELSA 3D REVELATOR which allow the most important settings to by made directly in the game itself. These settings range from an individually adjustable depth setting to the position of the 3D scenery in relation to the monitor screen. This gives rise to the effect that the scenery coming out of the monitor is closing in on the observer.
Dyna-Z, a new and so far unique ELSA tool, works unnoticeably in the background and serves to dynamically adjust and optimize the spatial effect, whatever the game's representation of the scene. A press of the screenshot hotkey saves the current image as a true 3D screenshot which can be viewed any time in true 3D.
Naturally enough, the 3D REVELATOR is fully suited to multi-player games. Up to four sets of the cable glasses, and even up to 8 sets of the wireless, infra-red glasses can be used in a games session.

To use the ELSA 3D REVELATOR you need an ELSA ERAZOR II or ELSA VICTORY II graphics board (ELSA ERAZOR III and ELSA WINNER II pending). You also need a computer with at least a Pentium II or AMD K6-2, and a monitor which can display the desired resolution at a refresh rate of at least 120 Hz.
The cable version and the wireless infra-red version of the ELSA 3D REVELATOR will be shipping in May 1999.
