New security functions make it possible for an administrator to assign rights to users. For each employee, the administrator can enable or disable automatic call acceptance, call acceptance for calls without identification signals, remote control of the zoom camera as well as the use of CAPI and NDIS WAN outside of videoconferences. ELSAvision II users can be assigned a maximum usable bandwidth in LAN without a gatekeeper. When a gatekeeper is used, a preset threshold value ensures that the videoconferencing connections do not overload the network.
ELSAvision videoconferencing systems can now also be integrated in the Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes company platforms. Existing address books can also be used for ELSAvision. When you dial a subscriber from the central address book, the link to ELSAvision is created immediately and the videoconference started.
ELSAvision videoconferencing systems provide many advantages thanks to the use of hardware codecs. The processing of image and sound processing in hardware codecs is independent of the available computing power of the PC being used. The CPU is subject to a load of less than 10%. This means that almost the full power of the computer remains available for running programs and application sharing. Investments in faster and more powerful computers become unnecessary.
Support of the G.711, G.728 and G.722 standards makes outstanding audio quality possible. ELSAvision also has dynamic echo suppression with complete duplex operation (simultaneous listening and speaking). When they are used in IP networks, the hardware codecs can take full advantage of their power reserves. They enable video bandwidths up to 768 Kbps in each direction in H.323 operation. This corresponds to 12 B channels in the ISDN.
An API software package for project adaptations is available separately for project solutions such as the use of ELSAvision videoconferencing systems in information terminals. A new feature of this is a high-level interface with ActiveX support for the programming languages Visual Basic, Visual C++, Delphi and HTML. Among other things, this makes it possible to run the complete ELSAvision videoconferencing system directly and smoothly from existing Internet/intranet environments without problems. This is possible because the necessary operating components and functions are integrated in the HTML document or webpages, for example.
Videoconferencing systems from ELSA provide professional communication platforms for large and medium sized companies. Their use can increase productivity substantially and reduce costs at the same time. The videoconferencing systems are especially convincing thanks to their high degree of compliance with standards, very good compatibility and comprehensive conferencing and office communication functions. You can hold videoconferences using ELSAvision II via either ISDN (H.320) or IP networks (H.323). The videoconferencing systems demonstrate top performance running under the Windows NT 4.0 (only ELSAvision II), Windows 98 and Windows 95 operating systems thanks to their use of hardware codecs for video and audio.
