March 15, 1999 - At the CeBIT '99 ELSA is presenting new modems with state-of-the-art USB technology. The two new modems ELSA MicroLink 56k USB und ELSA MicroLink ISDN USB offer exceptional ease-of-use and the unusual design makes them interesting eye-catchers.
ELSA is sure that while some external PC devices lead an existence hidden under the desktop, these innovatively designed USB modems will be decorating them instead. The new design of the analog modem ELSA MicroLink 56k USB and the ISDN modem ELSA MicroLink ISDN USB not only offer a welcome change to the monotonous gray/beige of the PC world: The exceedingly simple installation is a further very welcome feature.
USB technology offers so-called hot plugging. This means that the ELSA MicroLink ISDN USB and ELSA MicroLink 56k USB modems can be connected up to PCs which are switched on. Windows 98 PCs even execute the installation fully automatically. The Plug & Surf motto of the USB modems can be taken by literally - installation couldn't be easier.
The ELSA MicroLink ISDN USB supports all ISDN modes at a transfer speed of up 128,000 bps, making it ideal for applications like Internet, home banking, fax (group 4), file transfers and e-mail.
The ELSA MicroLink 56k USB high-speed modem makes Internet downloads at speeds of up to 56,000 bps possible. In send and receive modes, ELSA MicroLink 56k USB works at a speed of up to 33,600 bps.
Both products have all the software necessary to launch into the online world. Extensive communications software packages for fax, e-mail and file transfer, as well as for various online services are provided. The new ELSA USB modems are available as from April in PC retailers and electronics superstores.
