ELSA's new graphics solution Synergy II offers optimized 3D graphics performance

March 15, 1999 - ELSA has announced a new addition to the successful Synergy product range. The new ELSA Synergy II graphics solution has been designed around NVIDIA's new RIVA TNT2 graphics chip and has been optimized by ELSA driver specialists to deliver astounding 3D acceleration for graphics professionals.

The ELSA Synergy II is a high-performance graphics solution targeting professional users in the areas of 3D visualization, image processing, DTP and CAD. The Synergy II board has the performance necessary to meet the needs of even the most demanding professional applications. Alongside the extremely fast 128-bit 2D performance of the RIVA TNT2 chip, the 3D capabilities have been enhanced by ELSA's OpenGL® driver SIMDream for Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® 95 and 98 and Windows® 2000 (pending) guaranteeing impressive 3D acceleration for all professional tasks. A further, major performance aspect of ELSA's SIMDream for Synergy II is the full utilization of the Intel Pentium III processor streaming SIMD capabilities, which have been pushed to their maximum potential by accelerating important parts of the geometry pipeline. The ELSA Synergy II is also compatible to Pentium II processors and to future generation motherboards. The Universal Card Design supports both AGP 2x and AGP 4x.

The ELSA Synergy II board is equipped with the RIVA TNT2 processor and available with 32 MB SDRAM or 16 MB SGRAM. The built-in 300-MHz RAMDAC delivers high and ergonomic refresh rates in all resolutions. Even at a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels in TrueColor the 32 MB version of the Synergy board still allows double buffering, 24-bit Z buffer and 8-bit stencil capabilities. NVIDIA's RIVA TNT2 chip features TwiN Texel technology with two independent 32-bit texture-rendering pipelines which enable fill rates of up to 250 million fully textured pixels in 32-bit color and can drive 8 million triangles per second.

Extensive optimization comes with the ELSA Software Advantage driver and tool package which grants all Synergy II customers support and an increase in performance and productivity for 3D Studio MAX/VIZ R.2x and AutoCAD® R14. All applications based on Open Inventor and programs such as ALLPLAN, Autodesk® Architectural Desktop, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, AutoCAD® R14, MicroStation and WorldToolKit are supported.

Topping this set of performance features ELSA is offering a six-year warranty on the Synergy II board including the ELSA-ServiceDirect and comprehensive support.

The new high-performance ELSA Synergy II will be available at the end of May. The recommended retail price of the 16-MB version will be DM 498,-; the 32-MB version will retail at DM 598,-.
