ELSA's Growth Leads to New Office in Taipei

ELSA Asia Inc. has taken up its activities on the Asian market

Aachen, Germany - ELSA AG, one of the leading international manufacturers of data communications and computer graphics products, recently announced the opening of its second international sales and marketing office. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, the move reflects the expanding demand for ELSA products throughout the world. The new facility will respond to the growing needs of the Asian hardware market, serving it directly.

Already omnipresent in the Western Hemisphere, demand for ELSA products in the east is skyrocketing; the Taipei office will meet this demand. Last year's enormous growth in the United States alone displays the need for another office, and the Asian market is one that ELSA feels it must respond to. "The Asian market will be one of the key factors for ELSA's growth in the coming years," says Theo Beisch, managing director of ELSA AG. "With the set-up of ELSA Asia Inc. as a strong sales and marketing basis for Asia, ELSA has taken into account the fact that our high-end computer graphics and ISDN products are appreciated by many Asian customers and partners for their outstanding quality and optimum reliability. Projects such as the integration of our leading-edge graphics accelerator, the GLoria-L, into Compaq's Professional Workstation 5000 and UMAX's UmaxStation 6000G have been decisive for the ELSA product awareness within several Asian countries."

The Taipei office will operate similarly to ELSA's US office, providing complete sales and marketing options to Asian buyers. The office will also offer technical support and all other aspects of customer service. ELSA expects the benefits of the new office to include increased accessibility and availability of ELSA products to Asian buyers; sales in the area are expected to correspond.

The office also represents an opportunity to serve the Asian market directly from a subsidiary located in Taipei, Taiwan. "ELSA Asia Inc. is committed to bringing global service close to our customers in Asia," explained ELSA Asia Inc.'s Vice President and General Manager, Franklin Chang.

The outlook of ELSA affiliates is also positive. Vice President of Marketing at 3Dlabs, Neil Trevett says, "ELSA's GLoria family of accelerators uses 3Dlabs' GLINT® and PERMEDIA® processors and has been one of the most successful range of professional 3D accelerators in North America and Europe. 3Dlabs sees ELSA's further expansion into the Asian market as an exciting and significant step as both companies work closely together to supply the industry's leading 3D solutions into the global marketplace."
