specialist ELSA, today announced that Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) will incorporate
an advanced AGP version of the award-winning ELSA GLoria Synergy, in some of its
new Professional Workstation products. GLoria Synergy delivers high performance 2D and 3D
acceleration ideal for Compaq Professional Workstations targeted at mainstream computer-aided design and engineering
(CAD/CAE), 3D animation, and image processing requirements at a compelling price.
ELSA GLoria Synergy is an integrated 2D and 3D graphics controller equipped with the AGP bus, the PERMEDIA 2 processor from 3Dlabs, and 8 MB of SGRAM. A 250-MHz RAMDAC delivers resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200 in HighColor, while a 90-MHz chip clock speed delivers superior performance. The product supports multiscreen operations with the ELSA GLoria Synergy range of products with DESKman. ELSA GLoria Synergy supports OpenGL®, Direct3D, HEIDI in hardware with bilinear texture mapping.
Compaq Professional Workstations allow customers to benefit from the ELSA Software Advantage for Autodesk, Kinetix, and OpenGL applications. In addition to unique OpenGL technology, ELSA POWERdraft is the only driver delivering hardware acceleration for both AutoCAD R13 and R14. ELSA MAXtreme for 3D Studio MAX 2.0 and 3D Studio VIZ 2.0 further enhance the already excellent graphics performance for CAD and visualization applications.
ELSA GLoria Synergy has received several awards since its introduction in 1997 in North America, Europe, and Asia - including CADENCE Editor's Choice, and CADALYST 5 stars awards for both 2D and 3D performance.
