Aachen, June 17, 1997
Aachen, Germany; June 17, 1997 - ELSA AG today announced the latest addition to the high-end professional GLoria product line: the new GLINT MX-based GLoria board. This graphics accelerator, with the GLINT MX professional graphics processor from 3Dlabs, brings to life 3D graphics with tri-linear, per-pixel MIP mapping in hardware, high-performance texture mapping in hardware, as well as a high frame rate. ELSA's new GLoria board is the hallmark of professional standard graphics boards and guarantees to provide the highest possible 3D graphics performance available for today's PCs.
The ELSA graphics accelerator transforms Intel's Pentium Pro, Dual Pentium Pro, and DEC Alpha systems into high-end 3D workstations. The board is optimized for visualization, animation, modeling, 3D CAD, VR and simulation applications; it delivers ELSA's software advantage in API drivers, application drivers and productivity utilities. "The addition of this GLINT MX-based GLoria board to our professional graphics line is an exciting step into the future. We are delighted to see so much interest from system manufacturers for this technology," says Thomas Neubert, VP/General Manager of ELSA Inc. DEC, Dell and Tri-Star have announced plans to introduce GLINT MX based boards in their personal workstations.
"ELSA's GLoria-L has been a great contributor to the success of the Compaq Professional Workstation 5000," said Les Crudele, Vice President and General Manager of Compaq's Workstation Division. "We are excited about ELSA's new high-end GLINT MX-based product line which opens up new opportunities to deliver superior 3D graphics performance to Compaq workstation customers."
"The GLINT MX based GLoria board from ELSA provides high-quality, performance workstation-class 3D graphics for personal workstations", said Jeff Clarke, director and general manager at Dell Computer Workstation Product Group.
"ELSA's graphics controllers have long been a great fit for our professional graphics workstations", said Robert Powers, executive vice president of Tri-Star Computer. "We are pleased to be able to incorporate the MX technology into our systems, which allows us to continue providing our customers with cutting-edge, high-performance graphics workstations at an exceptional price point."
"The GLoria board with the GLINT MX graphics processor gives DIGITAL Personal Workstation I-Series users extremely interactive graphics performance at a very affordable price point," said Philippe Ribeyre, Vice President of DIGITAL's Workstation Business Segment. "DIGITAL's ability to provide customers access to, and support for, exciting third party products like the GLoria product line through our Global Graphics Reference Program underscores our deep commitment to delivering a truly open 3D visual computing solution to the workstation market."
"ELSA incorporates their graphical and technical expertise to deliver a high-end graphics board," said Andre Wolper, director of Workstation Industry Marketing for Intel. "A system that combines the new GLoria board with the speed of Intel's Pentium II processor delivers workstation users a poweful, yet, affordable solution."
"As one of our long standing partners, ELSA has been a leader in bringing professional 3D graphics to the customer," says vice president of marketing at 3Dlabs, Neil Trevett.
