ELSA Announces Hewlett-Packard's Decision on the GLoria Synergy

ELSA equip HP Kayak XW PC workstations with highly acclaimed 2D/3D graphics board

April 27, 1998 - ELSA AG announces that the ELSA GLoria Synergy will be integrated in the newest version of the Hewlett-Packard Company's Kayak XW PC Workstation.

With the ELSA GLoria Synergy the HP Kayak XW PC Workstations, high-performance PCs optimized for Windows NT®, offer an extremely cost-effective price/performance solution, providing outstanding graphics performance for professional 2D CAD and 3D visualization applications, e.g. from Autodesk®, Kinetix, Bentley, PTC, SDRC, EDS Unigraphics and SolidWorks.

The ELSA GLoria Synergy is equipped with AGP bus, the PERMEDIA 2 processor from 3Dlabs, and 8MB SGRAM. The 230-MHz pixel clock powers this board to resolutions of 1920 x 1200 in HighColor. It can be operated in multi-screen mode and supports 16:10 wide-screen monitors. The ELSA GLoria Synergy provides bilinear texture mapping in hardware and hardware accelerated OpenGL®, HEIDI and Direct3D. To date, the GLoria Synergy has won seven international awards, recommendations and citations in Germany, Great Britain, the USA and Taiwan.

Theo Beisch, President and CEO of ELSA AG: "Hewlett-Packard demands extremely high standards of its suppliers. Product quality, performance, time to market, plus an excellent price/performance relationship are just as important as continual product development and technical support. That the GLoria Synergy has been selected is an acknowledgment of ELSA's capabilities. With the Hewlett-Packard design win, we have made an important step forward in our strategy for international expansion."

"HP has integrated GLoria Synergy graphics to facilitate customers migrating from 2D to 3D," said Jean-Charles Miard, general manager for HP Kayak PC Workstations. "HP Kayak XW PC Workstations with GLoria Synergy graphics provide exceptional customer value. GLoria Synergy is a very attractive expansion of our array of HP Kayak XW PC Workstation graphics options."

Through HP Kayak XW PC Workstations, HP customers can benefit from the ELSA Software Advantage for Autodesk® and Kinetix applications. The new drivers, ELSA POWERdraft for hardware acceleration of AutoCAD® R13 and R14 as well as ELSA MAXtreme for 3D Studio MAX 2.0, further boost the already excellent graphics performance with these CAD and visualization applications.

The new HP Kayak XW PC Workstation featuring ELSA GLoria Synergy graphics, a 333MHz Pentium II processor, 64 MB SDRAM and 4.5 GB/10,000 rpm hard disk is available today, with an estimated U.S. street price of $3,655.
