Aachen, Germany – ELSA's VICTORY 3DX, the successor to the highly praised VICTORY 3D, features the new ViRGE/DXä graphics controller and a super-fast EDO-DRAM, and thus offers higher performance than its predecessor. The new ELSA graphics board offers an increase in 3D performance of up to 50 % for games and other 3D applications, including state-of-the-art features such as texture mapping, alpha blending, and fogging.
Improved 2D performance for graphical user interfaces and improved video playback in outstanding quality make the board an optimum solution. The VICTORY 3DX offers horizontal and vertical video filtering and thus ensures impressive MPEG and AVI video playback in smooth, full-screen display.
The 4-MB version provides 1024 x 768 pixels in more than 16 million colors, making the VICTORY 3DX not only a superb high-speed, high-resolution standard graphics board for almost any operating system, but also an ideal product for games addicts.
The improved 170-MHz RAMDAC, which has been integrated into S3's ViRGE/DX graphics controller, is responsible for brilliant display quality at ergonomic refresh rates. The VICTORY 3DX offers 1280 x 1024 pixels at a flicker-free refresh rate of 100 Hz. The board is equipped with 2 MB or 4 MB of EDO-RAM.
The board comes with fast ELSA drivers for Windows®â 95, Windows® NTâ 3.51 and 4.0, Windows®â 3.1x, as well as OS/2 Warp 3 and 4. The WINman Suite is a new collection of tools which allows users, for example, to optimize the resolution, color depth, and refresh rate precisely for their monitor, or to switch on or off individual DirectX and video features. It also gives users the choice between high 3D speed and maximum image quality for the first time. By deactivating, for example, 3D texture filtering, they can accelerate 3D software enormously.
The VICTORY 3DX supports all major video standards, such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectVideo, and EnDIVE as well as DCI. In addition, the board provides super-fast DOS performance for games with the VBE 2.0 BIOS. A full version of the 3D action game MechWarrior 2 MercenariesTM as well as several demo programs are included in the package!
