ELSA Announces Graphics Board with Voodoo-Banshee Chip from 3Dfx

New Graphics Board from ELSA for the Professional Gamer

August 18, 1998 - ELSA, computer graphics and data communications manufacturer of Aachen, Germany, announces the extension of its product line of high-performance consumer graphics boards to include the new Voodoo-Banshee 3D processor technology from 3Dfx. The target markets are entertainment and other performance-intensive PC fields. The new board, to go by the name of ELSA VICTORY II, will be on store shelves in October.

The combination of ELSA's many years of experience in the development of high-end 3D graphics technologies and the extraordinary performance of the Voodoo Banshee from 3Dfx is the foundation of a highly convincing product for mainstream PC users and, above all, for 3D games fans.

The fully integrated 2D and 3D graphics processor consists of a completely new 2D engine and the 3D core technology of the leading 3D game processor, Voodoo 2 by 3Dfx, including Glide support. With 128-bit graphics technology and up to 16 MB frame buffer memory, the new generation of ELSA boards is a powerful solution for 2D applications and 3D-intensive games. The integrated RAMDAC, at 230 MHz, supports high resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 pixels in TrueColor.

ELSA supplies a complete palette of high-performance drivers, including optimized drivers for Microsoft® PC '98 and Direct3D with DirectX 6.0. The excellent DirectX support by ELSA guarantees top multimedia quality for a wide scope of graphic software, from 2D applications to 3D-hungry games. Besides the optimized support for DirectX 5.0, DirectX 6.0 and Windows® 98, ELSA also offers a fully implemented OpenGL® ICD (Installable Client Driver) for Windows® 95 and Windows NT®.
