ELSA Presents New Graphics Board in the Trio Class

With WINNER 1000/T2D, ELSA offers a perfect graphics accelerator for work, play, and entertainment.

Aachen, Germany – ELSA AG, a leading German manufacturer of data communications and computer graphics products, today announced its new Trio class front runner, the WINNER 1000/T2D. The graphics board represents a good solution for office applications as well as for play and entertainment purposes.

With its 64-bit graphics controller Trio64V2/DX from S3 and its super-fast EDO-DRAM, the WINNER 1000/T2D now offers significant improvement over its predecessor as well as other Trio-based boards, making the board the ideal solution for all Windows®â - and OS/2-based applications of the 17" monitor class.

High performance video in top-class quality from the switchable horizontal and vertical filters sets new standards in this price class. Thanks to the full hardware support of the Microsoft®â DirectDraw and IBMâ EnDIVE video standards, digital video sequences, such as MPEG or AVI files, are played back in smooth, full-screen display.

ELSA is the first graphics board manufacturer to include an MPEG-1 software decoder with MMX support with its new board. With its software decoding results, the WINNER 1000/T2D achieves video resolutions which have only been possible with additional hardware until now.

The video memory of the WINNER 1000/T2D is expandable from 1 MB to 2 MB EDO-DRAM. For multimedia applications, the 2-MB version is recommended.

The integrated 170-MHz color palette guarantees ergonomic refresh rates even for high resolutions. The WINNER graphics board can, for example, display 100 frames per second with 1024 x 768 pixels in more than 65,000 colors.

With the WINNER 1000/T2D, games fans will experience ultra-fast DOS performance and high resolutions without additional driver installation thanks to VBE 2.0 hardware support. The board comes with fast ELSA drivers for Windows®â  3.1x, Windows®â  95, Windows® NTâ 3.51 and 4.0 as well as OS/2 Warp 3 and 4. With the comprehensive set of drivers, the multilingual documentation, and the useful Windows® utilities included in the WINman Suite, the WINNER 1000/T2D is the first choice for a uniquely wide range of applications.
