Microsoft® Certifies the ELSA GLoria™-XXL for Windows NT® 4.0

New high-end AGP graphics board provides outstanding 3D performance for visualization, animation, 3D CAD modeling and DCC on NT Workstations

July 10, 1998 -The high-end AGP graphics board GLoria-XXL from ELSA AG of Aachen, Germany, has been certified by Microsoft for the Windows NT 4.0 operating system. This demonstrates that this board meets with the strict requirements of the WHQL test and is optimally adjusted for the operating system.

The ELSA GLoria-XXL is integrated into PC workstations as a graphics sub-system with the aim of providing the greatest possible performance for professional applications such as Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/Designer, EDS Unigraphics, Solidworks, I-DEAS, 3D Studio MAX, Softimage 3D and MayaNT under Windows NT 4.0.

The ELSA GLoria-XXL, featuring the most powerful chip set from 3Dlabs and implementation of the latest PC bus technology, is a performance-optimized AGP version of the successful ELSA GLoria™-XL, and is thus fully compatible with the very latest developments in PC workstations. This ultimate high-end AGP graphics solution offers, even today, outstanding workstation power and fulfills the wishes of even the most demanding professional 3D user. The high-speed, full-size AGP design, optimized with specialized ELSA drivers and supported by OpenGL®, HEIDI and Direct3D, makes light work of heavy tasks in high-end 3D CAD and DCC (Digital Contact Creation).

Even the most complex visualizations, animations and simulations can be displayed with the highest resolutions in TrueColor at lightning speed. The ELSA GLoria-XXL features 16-MB VRAM and a 24-MB DRAM local buffer which can be expanded to 40 MB to increase the texture memory. This heavy-duty memory equipment makes even resolutions of 1920x1080 pixels at an ergonomic 89 Hz refresh rate possible, and that in double-buffered TrueColor. A standard feature of the ELSA GLoria-XXL is the connector for stereo shutter glasses especially for professional virtual-reality applications.

Naturally enough, the ELSA GLoria-XXL provides the option of ergonomic graphics display on a 24" wide-screen monitor such as the ELSA ECOMO™ 24H96 with resolutions of 1920x1200 pixels.

The standard package includes the ELSA Software Advantage. With ELSA POWERdraft™, ELSA is the only graphics board manufacturer worldwide to provide professional AutoCAD® users with dedicated drivers for hardware accelerated AutoCAD R14 and Autodesk Mechanical Desktop. With the OpenGL-based 3D viewer ELSAview 3D™, 3D models can be displayed and altered in real time. Just as unique is the driver ELSA MAXtreme™, which was specially developed for 3D Studio MAX/VIZ R2x and offers users a real boost in productivity. The GLoria Settings, a component of the ELSA WINman Suite, allow the optimization of the graphics system independant of any applications.

The ELSA GLoria-XXL is available now and comes with a 6-year warranty.
