The New ELSA LANCOM Generation for Professional Internet Access and Flexible Office Communications

ELSA ISDN routers with outstanding value for the small office

March 6, 1998—ELSA AG is presenting a new ELSA LANCOM generation at CeBIT '98, consisting of a family of powerful ISDN routers for the SOHO sector. In addition to standard network communications, their strengths lie in professional Internet access and flexible office communications.

Special attention was devoted to a high degree of user friendliness, versatility, security, and value for money in the development of the new ELSA router technology.

ELSA LANCOM™ 1000 Office is the professional solution for Internet and intranet access. This entrylevel router provides a direct connection to the Internet for each workstation in the local network (LAN). The installation and management of the office router is extremely user-friendly. The included configuration software ELSA LANconfig ensures a fast and simple installation under Windows. This Wizardbased software guides the user safely through the configuration without requiring indepth knowledge of networks.

Extensive security and firewall functions are provided by the ELSA LANCOM 1000 Office for the protection of office networks. One of the most modern functions is IP masquerading, in which all workstations in the LAN are hidden behind a single IP address while accessing the Internet.

ELSA LANCOM 2000 Office sets new standards for flexible office communications. One single ELSA LANCOM 2000 Office handles all of the services required for modern office communications. The LANCAPI supplied with the ELSA router ensures convenient functions for office communications in combination with the ELSA-RVS-COM communications software. This also provides a number of the economic advantages. All of the workstations integrated in the LAN receive unrestricted access to office communications functions such as fax and EuroFileTransfer via the LANCAPI, eliminating the need for substantial investments to equip the individual workstations with ISDN adapters or modems. All functions are controlled via the network. Only the communications software is actually installed on the individual workstations.

Four integrated a/b ports permit the connection of analog telephones, fax machines or modems. This permits the continued use of analog equipment when making the transition from analog to digital lines and eliminates the need for investment in digital terminal equipment. It goes without saying that the a/b ports also support advanced functions such as call forwarding, call hold, alternation between lines and 3-party conferencing.

The new LANCOM router family will be introduced at the CeBIT this year on the ELSA stands in Hall 15, Booth F55 and Hall 8, Booth C28. Shipping is scheduled for the second quarter of 1998.
