Aachen, March 13, 1997
Aachen, Germany At this year's CeBIT, ELSA will present professional communications solutions in two halls. Apart from the main booth in hall 8 and the traditional CAD booth in hall 21, ELSA will now be present also in hall 15, with the focus on network coupling.
The ELSA multiprotocol router MicroLink LANCOM MPR offers intelligent solutions for network coupling, Internet access and remote access applications with its user-friendly blackbox concept. The flash-ROM technology of LANCOM MPR offers convenient updates without the need to open the device.
The new firmware version presented at CeBIT provides, with the simultaneous support of the serial V.24 highspeed interface, the availability of up to three lines at the same time. In addition to the two connections which can be established via the ISDN S0 (S/T) interface (via 2 B-channels), it is now possible to connect another communications device via the serial V.24 interface of the router. For this third connection, you can use a modem, an ISDN adapter or an ISDN modem. Depending on the device you choose, this offers either a third access to ISDN or a connection to the analog telephone network.
With the use of this serial interface, back-up connections can be realized, e.g. in case of the breakdown of one leased line, ensuring a high operating security of the network connection. For this alternative connection via the serial interface, you can use either an ELSA terminal adapter (e.g. MicroLink ISDN/TLpro or MicroLink ISDN/TLV.34), or an analog ELSA modem (e.g. MicroLink 33.6TQV).
A further expansion of the functionality is the "Round-Robin" support of LANCOM MPR, which offers the storage of different numbers for the same network you want to reach. If the line or the router you have called is busy, it is ensured that the connection will be established by an alternative router.
The firmware update will be available free of charge as of mid-April via ELSA's electronic media: the ELSA ONLINE support BBS (modem: +49/0-241-9177-981, ISDN: +49/0-241-9177-7800), CompuServe (GO ELSA) or Internet (http://www.elsa.de or ftp.elsa.de).
