The Modem with a Memory

ELSA MicroLink™ Office is a 56k modem, speakerphone, fax and answering machine all rolled into one

March 4, 1998—At CeBIT '98 ELSA presents the latest highlight in the successful MicroLink series of modems.

ELSA MicroLink Office combines a 56k high-speed modem, speakerphone, fax, and answering machine in one device. With this multitalented modem featuring a smart combination of functions, ELSA has once again raised the benchmark in the marketplace for modems.

With the ELSA MicroLink Office in modem operation, you can download from the Internet at up to 56,000 bps or send and receive faxes at up to 14,400 bps. Needless to say, this modem is ready for the new 56k modem standard. Upgrading to the new V.90 standard involves no more than a simple nocost software update. As is now widely known, the modem manufacturers have agreed on a common standard for transmission speeds up to 56,000 bps. V.90 is expected to be finally adopted and available in summer '98.

The ELSA MicroLink Office is also a true stand-alone solution which can work independently of your computer. An integrated 2 MB flash memory can record up to 70 faxed pages or 15 minutes of speech. New messages can be played back just like a normal answering machine: There's no need to switch on your PC.

A real novelty is the keypad featured by the ELSA MicroLink Office: with the seven keys mounted directly on the modem housing, you can control the answering machine functions with ease. The usual functions, e.g. recording a greetings message, playing back messages, deleting messages, etc., can be carried out just as with a conventional answering machine. The ELSA MicroLink Office features an integrated microphone and loudspeaker, which means that the usual features known of ELSA modems (e.g. speakerphone operation and playback over sound card) are available in full.

ELSA supplies the new allround modem with a brandnew generation of software which has already caused a sensation in the USA: ELSA-COMMUNICATE!-PRO.

This software package has been specially adapted by ELSA and unites a multitude of functions within a single attractive program interface. Implemented in this software are the answering machine and fax functions, plus a terminal program, a WWW-browser launch function, Internet telephony, and address management.

The software is a 32-bit application specially developed for the Microsoft Windows® 95 and Microsoft Windows NT® operating systems. This lets the software seamlessly integrate into the operating system and even enables full fax functionality under Windows NT.

The software package of the ELSA MicroLink Office is rounded off with the remote access/remote control program LapLink 7.5, and access programs for the popular online providers such as CompuServe and AOL.

The ELSA MicroLink Office will be supplied complete with all necessary cables, a software CD-ROM, comprehensive documentation and an Installation Guide in six languages. The warranty period for the new modem lasts 6 years! ELSA MicroLink Office will be shipping late in the second quarter of 1998.
