ELSA's product range has been extended by an ISDN all-rounder for Windows NT® 4.0,
Windows® 95 and Windows® 3.1x. Most notable are the
software accessories and the price. An improved production process plus the falling cost of
components have enabled a price reduction of around 40%.
The ISDN PC board ELSA QuickStep 1000pro is an all-round ISDN solution for the modern office. ELSA QuickStep 1000pro equips the PC workstation with fax functionality (up to 14,400 bps), a digital answering machine, EuroFileTransfer, plus ultra-fast Internet access at up to 128,000 bps. ISDN communications use the X.75, V.120, HDLC-transparent, EuroFileTransfer, PPP and MLPPP protocols. The Internet access is realized via the NDIS-WAN Miniport driver, which thanks to the Multilink PPP (MLPPP) reaches data transfer speeds of up to 128 kbps. ELSA's Plug&Play ISDN board is installed and connected to the ISDN with an absolute minimum of effort. The user installs all of the necessary software simply by following the step-by-step instructions provided by the setup program CD-Setup, which of course features a detailed on-line Help.
The Windows software ELSA-RVS-COM included in the package supports Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 and Windows 3.1x. This program makes all important communications functions available with pre-configured software components. Another feature is the CAPI driver which makes ELSA QuickStep compatible with the IBM operating system OS/2. The software ISDN4Linux further makes the QuickStep 1000pro ready for operation under Linux. ISDN4Linux is a standard component of all the latest Linux distributions and can also be downloaded free of charge from the Internet. Naturally, this ISDN adapter is also suitable for operation under DOS.
Coming in October: The ELSA QuickStep 1000PCI featuring full PCI Plug & Play facilities will ensure that even with the most unfavorably configured systems, hardware conflicts will be a problem of the past.
