Aachen, Germany - Established in 1995, the ELSA web site at http://www.elsa.de today welcomes an average of 2,500 visitors per day and is therefore one of the most frequently visited web sites among German hardware manufacturers.One of the most popular areas on the ELSA site is the download area with driver updates and other files. More than 700 files in about 60 directories are available to ELSA customers for free download to upgrade their ELSA computer graphics and data communications products. The availability of the download area has caused a significant increase of the traffic on the ELSA web site in the past months, so finally the bandwidth of ELSA's Internet connection was no longer sufficient for the requested amount of data. Therefore, as a part of ELSA's far-reaching cooperation with CompuServe Network Services, ELSA's WWW/FTP site has now been moved to a server directly connected to CompuServe's high-bandwidth backbone and can therefore be accessed with a high performance worldwide.
At the same time, the formerly separate web site of ELSA's US subsidiary ELSA Inc. - available via http://www.elsa.com - as well as the web pages of the newly established Taiwan subsidiary ELSA Asia Inc. have been integrated with the site of the European headquarters to one worldwide web site, in which the local contents of the respective subsidiary are maintained by local web managers, whereas the ELSA-wide core contents are managed by the headquarters in Aachen, Germany.
Currently, web surfers can find the following contents on the ELSA web site: news, press releases, product information, international distributor lists, support information, a company profile, ELSA logos for download, links to other interesting sites, drivers and firmware updates, tools and application software, high-resolution product photos, an alphabetical index, and online contact to sales and technical support via local newsgroups.
ELSA's web site has received the "Best of Internet 1996" award and has been rated the "Most dealer-friendly web site 1997" of modem and ISDN manufacturers by the German issue of the "Computer Reseller News" magazine. Apart from this, ELSA's webmaster Jörg Benscheidt is especially pleased with the direct feedback he receives from customers who appreciate the structure, the completeness and the topicality of the provided information.
