Circles look like ellipses in MicroStation

Sometimes MicroStation behaves a little bit strange in handling unusual aspect ratio i.e for multiple-screen or the ELSA ECOMO 24H96 or other 24" monitors. This can be fixed with an undocumented command.

In the first dialog box, the MicroStation manager, the options Workspace, Project and Interface should be set to 'Default'.

Login window; as these settings are not available in any later dialog.

In MicroStation, go to 'Workspace'/'Configuration' and the following dialog will appear (notice the titel: 'Default' is coming up again) look for the Category 'User Commands'.

In the menu 'Set user command information' press New. A window appears and your asked for a new configuration variable. Fill the field 'Variable' with MS_Aspectratio and add the 'New Value' 1.6 (for example). This value depends on the real aspect ratio you are using. Devide your used X-resolution by the used Y-resolution, e.g. 1280/1024=1.251; 1600/1000=1.6. This is the number you should enter for the 'New Value'. The field 'Expansion' will be set automatically.

Note:
Make sure to use a full stop, not a comma! for the decimal number (german versions of MicroStation might accept a comma). Accept all dialog boxes and save the changes to the configuration file; changes will take effect after next start of MicroStation.
