What do you need to know when setting up an AGP graphics board?

AGP technology has only been fully supported since the Windows 98 operating system was introduced. With Windows 95 b number of patches is required to make the AGP technology known to the operating system. AGP technology is not currently incorporated in Windows NT 4.0 - even following service pack 4. It will probably not be supported until Windows NT 5.0.
The following is a list of the patches that need to be installed in Windows 95 and Windows 98:

Windows 95 B or Windows 95 C and a motherboard based on the Intel chipset:


Windows 95 B or Windows 95 C and a motherboard not based on the Intel chipset:
Windows 98 and a motherboard based on the Intel chipset:
If this combination is used, no further patches are required.

Windows 98 and a motherboard not based on the Intel chipset:
Chipset patch for the motherboard; it is crucial that you always install the current AGP driver version here.
