1.1 If Windows 95 is to be installed over an existing Windows 3xx version, the graphics card drivers under Windows 3.xx should be deinstalled before. Select VGA as the graphics card driver in the Windows 3.x SETUP program. Restart the installation program of the miro driver under Windows 3.xx, confirm the dialog box which requests to remove all previously installed software. Then abort the installation. Windows 95 can now be installed over the existing Windows 3.x version. If you already have installed Windows 95, remove Windows 95 again and proceed as described above.

1.2 All entries required only for DOS and Windows 3.xx should be removed from AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS.

1.3 The miro graphic cards of the miroVIDEO SD/SV product series, require a free IRQ when being installed under Win95. If this IRQ is already reserved by the BIOS, it could have the effect of, e.g. not allowing network access or access to SCSI disk drives. Please check the BIOS-setup of your machine for this configuration.

Preparation for packed data: If you have obtained your drivers from one of the Online services, these are usually compressed (packed). Before you can install these drivers, they must first be de-compressed (extracted). For files ending with .ZIP, the program PKUNZIP should be used, .EXE files are self-extracting.

On how to install the drivers, please consult the README files on the disk.

2.1 All graphic cards of the miroVIDEO series (VIDEO 20SD, VIDEO 20SV, VIDEO 40SV ergo) require an IRQ.

2.2 To benefit of the ergonomic features of the miro hardware we strongly recommend to select a monitor from the miro driver disk. For this please first select CHANGE and then DISK in <Control Panel>, <Display>, <Settings>, <Monitor>. After confirming the path to the driver disk, a list of monitors appears. From this list, select a monitor, which either corresponds exactly to your monitor or has the same maximum horizontal frequency (in kHz) as your monitor type.

2.3 Should Windows95 not start on VLB computers, the Base Address for linear memory addressing must be manually adjusted, as follows:

2.4 When using miroPinboard there maybe a delay when changing from virtual mode to actual resolution. Should this occur, we recommend to select the actual mode of 640 x 480 and then switch to a higher actual resolution.

2.5 When installing a miroVIDEO 20SD under Windows95, it could happen that both bus versions (VLB and PCI) are offered. It is very important to ensure that the correct bus interface, either PCI or VLB, was selected during installation, otherwise the card cannot function under Windows 95.

3.1 Should the system lock up during installation of the miro*Win95 driver, when the driver files are being copied, the contents of the miro*Win95 driver disk must be copied under MS-DOS Mode into a subdirectory on the harddrive, and the installation of the drivers must be carried out from this directory.

This frequently occurs when an Adaptec 1742 EISA SCSI Controller with activated floppy interface is installed in the machine.

3.2 In case of problems with DOS boxes please check if old 16 bit network card drivers are in use. Should this be the case, attempt to use your system without these drivers.
Using VLB cards in certain system-configurations there may be crashes launching DOS boxes.
This effect cannot be fixed. In this case we recommend to use the generic S3 driver of Windows95

3.3 The actual Windows95 drivers of the miroCRYSTAL SD/SV-, miroVIDEO SD/SV as well as miroMEDIA Series meet the specifications of DirectX 3a. They can also be used with DirectX versions higher 3 if you install in the following order: 1. Installation of the DirectX driver - after that - 2. Installation of the miro Driver Software.

Problem:

After Installation of the miro Driver Software the system hangs when booting Windows95 (only miroVIDEO 22SD, miroVIDEO 40SV ergo, miroMEDIA View).

In file MIRO.INF or MIRODISP.INF or MIROMVP.INF (name is depending on the driver version) of the miro Installation Software change line

HKR,DEFAULT,DDC,,"1"

to

HKR,DEFAULT,DDC,,"0"

and install the miro Driver a second time. If you install from a CD-ROM, please copy the driver onto an empty formatted 1,44MB disk or to the harddisk and deactivate the "read-only" tag of the file before editing.

Mouse-pointer sticks to the scroll-bar (e.g. in MS Word, Excel)

Add the line "FIFO=1" in section [DISPLAY] of the SYSTEM.INI

Missing characters during a data transmission with a Modem.

Add the line "FIFO=1" in section [DISPLAY] of the SYSTEM.INI

When playing AVI sequences, the following error message appears:

"Undefined Dynalink ".

Solution:

In the SYSTEM.INI; [DRIVERS] there is the entry DCI=MIRODCI from an older Windows 3.x installation. section. ---> Delete this entry.

Problem:

The help bubbles, which appear when staying on an icon button for a longer period with the mouse, are not readable.

Solution:

Enter BITBL=0 in the SYSTEM.INI [DISPLAY] section.

Problem:

When using higher resolutions and colour depths, outliers appear on the borders of the windows or the mouse pointer is not visible.

Solution:

Change the graphic acceleration under CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / PERFORMANCE / GRAPHICS.

only with PCI cards: random effects in screen output

Disable option "Peer Currency" in the system BIOS-Setup.

Problem:

only with VLB cards: after successful installation of the driver, the system "hangs" during a new Windows startup

Solution:

This problem can be solved by modifying the CARD....INI. In the section [REGDEF] the line 0x40=0x.. must be changed i.e. to be added as 0x40=0xf9. Important:

If you have a miroCRYSTAL 12SD VLB with one MB RAM, the file CARD0012.INI must be altered. If you have a miroCRYSTAL 12SD VLB with two MB, change the file CARD0212.INI. If you have a miroCRYSTAL 22SD VLB, change the file CARD0213.INI. Further, entries beginning with 0x5a=, 0x59= or 0x58=, as far as available, should be deactivated by prefixing with a semicolon. If need be, slightly raise the Wait State of the DRAM access in the BIOS of the computer or, from FASTEST; set to lower values.
