This effect occurs in some mainboards in which the miro Twin card cannot be initialized completely. To fix it please use the tool miromat.exe which is installed with the CAD-DOS drivers into directory [C]:\miro\comon:

1. install the miroCAD-DOS drivers
2. change to directory [C]:\miro\common
3. run program miromat.exe with option –detect (miromat –detect)
4. check if MIROMAT has found Board 0 and Board 1, if not go back to 3.
5. run program monseld.exe and choose your monitors for DOS applications
6. start Windows and install the Windows drivers once again.

After changing the monitor type the entries in the configuration file RCGTI.CFG do not change automatically. Close AutoCAD, delete file RCGTI.CFG from directory[C]:\miro\drivers\cad and launch AutoCAD again. A new RCGTI.CFG file with actualized monitor timings will be generated..

miroCRYSTAL/MAGIC Twin series cards support 2 fixed frequency monitors. These are:

miroC2078 (SONY GDM 1965, 1280x1024@72Hz) and

miro / SONY GDM 1950-6 (1280x1024@60Hz).

These monitor types can be selected during driver installation.

The monitor files were installed with incorrect timing values.

Please download file timing.zip from our Internet site http://www.miro.de/graphics/e/driver/w95/magic95.html and unzip it into the ...\timing directory of the miro driver.

To be able to run miroGTI a version of WING has to be installed. You'll find it on your AutoCAD application CD. Please install WING and start AutoCAD again.

Windows 95 cannot initialize miroTWINFACE mode because of a conflict with another device.

Please do as follows:

In some cases it isn't possible to save changes in the settings of miroPINBOARD: when starting the system default values are still active.

This is caused by special characters in the username.

Please replace special characters in the username by standard ASCII characters. To do so file PINBOARD.INI in directory [C]:\windows\miro\common has to be edited:

It's a special effect of the installation program: it checks the amount of free space on the harddisk and compares it with an internal value. Is there more than 1 GB of free diskspace the program gets a negative value and ends the installation with the above mentioned error message.

1. Temporary reduce the size of harddisk partition with a harddisk tool like e.g. Partition Magic.
2. Fill the harddisk with temporary data until there is less space than 1GB available.

Note: This procedure only applies to actual miro Twin series boards with S3 968 (miroMAGIC) and S3 V64+ (miroCRYSTAL) chips, that can be used with system driver V. 2.0.

Basically it is important if the "old" Windows 3.xx based – Twinface driver Version 1.02 had been installed. If so, there are entries in the SYSTEM.INI that also have to be deleted. These are sections [Twinleft.drv] and [Twinright.drv] in the SYSTEM.INI file. Besides this please do as follows:

• delete files miro*.* from directory Windows\System
• delete files oem*.* from directory Windows\inf.
  Please note: using Windows OSR 2 another subdirectory Windows\inf\other will be generated from which the .inf-files have to be deleted.
• delete files Twin*.* and miro*.* from directory Windows\inf and subdiretory ..\other if exists.
• completely delete directory Windows\miro.
• Install the generic S3-graphics driver that is integrated in Windows 95 (for miroCRYSTAL 22SD twin: driver for S3 Trio64 V+)
• reboot the system
• reinstall miro-Twin driver (actual Version 2.0 ). Please start installation via the corresponding .inf file (see description in the manual). Don't run the setup.exe program.

• delete every "twin..." entry from the SYSTEM.INI file.

• delete every entry VEN_5333&DEV_...... from section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ENUM\PCI of the Windows Registry
• also search for files mentioned under 1. (miro*.*, twin*.*,...) and delete these.
• restart the system – Booting up, Windows will recognize an new PCI device. If all miro.inf files had been deleted correctly Windows will automatically install a standard S3 driver.
• Restart – now the S3 driver is installed and the actual miro driver can be installed thereafter.

Because of the new multiple monitor functionality Microsoft implemented in Windows 98 at present miro Twin cards can only be used in single screen mode under Win98.

An adaptation of the actual miroCRYSTAL 22SD twin driver is under development, but there isn't a fixed release date yet. Please check our Internet site http://www.miro.de for availability.

Installing the driver for the first time miroMONITOR Select as a precaution will automatically choose two 31,5 kHz monitors. This setting only allows a maximum resolution of 640x480 on each monitor. To get a higher resolution please choose via <Control Panel> and miroMONITOR Select two other monitors, that correspond to the specifications of the monitors connected.

After reboot all resolutions that the selected monitors are capable to show are available.

Please note that changes in miroMONITOR Select can only be done if you are logged in as Administrator under NT 4.0.

If not, miroMONITOR Select will use the default setting (640x480) after restart.

On some systems after a restart of Windows NT only one monitor shows a desktop image. In this case the second board of the miro Twin card couldn't be initialized correctly.

Please use the latest Windows NT 4.0 driver nt40twin.zip from our Internet site.

Yes, it is. Please use the NT 4.0 driver for miro single screen cards: nt40sing.zip.

After the installation of this driver Windows NT boot messages will be shown on the monitor connected to the daughterboard and after driver initialization will switch to the HiRes primary board of the miro Twin series card.

This solution is to be preferred when using asymmetric screen sizes, e.g. a 14 and a 20 inch monitor.
