Appendix: Videotext Hotkeys  1. miroMEDIA View/TV 1.1 Installation For information on installing the driver software, refer to the User´s Guide (located on the CD-ROM in the Adobe Acrobat Reader format in the MANUAL directory), the Quick Installation Guide or the hints which appear during the installation. Very Important: Make sure to read the file readme.txt for installing Windows drivers. This file is included in the Windows driver software package. The respective Windows driver software is on the CD-ROM in the directory \DISKSETS\WIN95 and/or \DISKSETS\WIN31. The option ´PCI VGA Palette Snoop´ should be set to ´disable´ in the mainboard bios-setup. On some system combined with a S3 based vga card the screen output can be disturbed (different kind of effects). In such a case, the option ´Peer Concurrency´ in the bios-setup of the mainboard must be set to ´Disabled´. 1.2 Resolutions higher than 640x480 cannot be selected or only a virtual monitor display is available. Probably a wrong monitor has been selected. Install a monitor from the miro Windows 95 driver software and not a model from the Windows 95 list. If you do not have a miro monitor, select one of the multi-frequency monitors which corresponds to the maximum horizontal frequency of your monitor. Refer to the documentation for your device for information on the value for the maximum horizontal frequency of your monitor. Keep in mind that this value must not be exceeded when selecting a monitor. 1.3 After the miro Windows 95 driver software is installed, the system "halts" when rebooting Windows 95. In the file MIROMVP.INF of the miro W95 installation software, change the line HKR,DEFAULT,DDC,,"1" to HKR,DEFAULT,DDC,,"0" and re-install the miro installation software. In case you have an installation CD-ROM, first copy the driver to an empty formatted 1.44 MB disk and disable the "read only" feature using a tool (e.g. W95 Explorer, Norton Commander) so that the file can be edited. 1.4 MPEG or Video CD sequences cannot be played back and/or there an error message will occur. Keep in mind that the miroMEDIA View requires a free IRQ. The ´irqtest.exe´ DOS program is located on the miroMEDIA View CD-ROM in the \DISKSETS\WIN31 or DISKSETS\WIN95 subdirectories. You can use this program to check whether the board is assigned to an IRQ. If, after starting this program, you get the message ´IRQ not found!´ or ´IRQ 255´, then the board has not been assigned an IRQ. In this case, check the settings in the BIOS Setup of the main board. There may be an IRQ conflict with another hardware component. In some cases, it may be necessary to assign an IRQ directly to the slot in which the miroMEDIA View is installed. See also the miroMEDIA tips from the miroWINTOOLS program group. The maximum resolution for playing back MPEG and Video-CD sequences is 1024x768. Setting a higher monitor resolution results in an error message. 1.5 Where can I find the file CP3.INI described in the miroMEDIA tips (miroWINTOOLS program group)? The file is called CPX.INI, not CP3.INI, and is located in the \WINDOWS directory. 1.6 When calling up miroTELEVISION an error message appears because of wrong setting of resolution/ depth of bit. Please deinstall the system-software of the miroMEDIA View/TV and close Windows 95 in the DOS mode. If necessary please delete the following files manually: \WINDOWS\MIROTV.DAT \WINDOWS\MIROTELE.INI \WINDOWS\MIRO.INI \WINDOWS\MMMCFG.INI \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MMMCFG.DAT \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MMMCFG.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RFM*.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIRO.DRV \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIRODD16.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIRODD32.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIROHW.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIROMCI.DRV \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIROMINI.VXD \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIROTTI.DLL \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MIROTV.DAT \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WTMIRO.DLL \WINDOWS\MIRO\COMMON\MIROHW.INI \WINDOWS\MIRO\COMMON\MIROTELE.* \WINDOWS\MIRO\COMMON\MTELE*.DLL \WINDOWS\MIRO\COMMON\VTX.* \WINDOWS\MIRO\INSTALL\*.* \WINDOWS\INF\MIROMVP.INF Afterwards start Windows95 and install the actual Windows95 system-software V2.10 for the miroMEDIA View/TV. 1.7 CD-I videos cannot be played back under Windows95, but MPEG and Video-CD playback is possible. Microsoft does not offer CD-I format support under Windows95 at present. The Green Book Format (CD-I) cannot be displayed under Windows95. You can only use titles in MPEG or White Book format. 1.8 In some games the mouse cursor is displayed as a black box! This effect is known and occurs in games like Need 4 Speed 2 SE, Diablo, Xwing vs. Tie Figther. Solution: There is a special patch available in the internet (http://www.miro.de) and in the miro bbs. 1.9 How do I establish a correct internal audio connection to the miroMEDIA Online board? Make sure to connect the internal audio plug-in connections correctly on both boards . miroMEDIA View: pin no. assign to 1 right 2 ground 3 left 4 ground miroMEDIA Online: pin no. assign to 1 right 2 ground 3 ground 4 left 1.10 Can miroMEDIA View/TV be used to record video sequences (e.g. from the TV tuner)? miroMEDIA View can only be used in connection with the miroMEDIA Manager or miroTELEVISION application to store individual images (*.BMP, *.DIB format). The capture program of the Multi MediaMaestro CD-ROM included in the package cannot be used with miroMEDIA 3D/TV. 1.11 miroMEDIA View TV in connection with miroVIDEO DC20/DC1. The overlay function of miroVIDEO DC20 in connection with miroMEDIA View and miroMEDIA TV upgrade depends on the Windows95 driver software being used for the miroMEDIA View. You need a W95-driver version higher than V2.00. The software does not support the overlay function of miroMEDIA View TV in connection with miroVIDEO DC1. 1.12 No image appears on the TV set connected attached to the TV-out connector. Please keep in mind that a simultaneous display on the monitor as well as on a connected TV set is impossible. To enable the display on a TV set, proceed as follows: Windows95: Please click the TV button in miroPINBOARD. In case this button is not available, please configure the keys using the miroPINBOARD configuration. DOS: Please call up the vga2tv.exe program (\miro\common directory). This program is resident in the memory and can be called up with different options (see vga2tv.txt). vga2tv.exe must not be used in the DOS Prompt. Make sure that the miroMEDIA 3D and the TV-set have been connected correctly. The TV out connector (Cinch) must be connected to the Video-In connector or an Euro-Scart connector. An antenna input cannot be used. 1.13 Microsoft DirectX The actual Windows95 system-software V2.10 of the miroMEDIA View meet the specifications of DirectX 3a. This software can also be used with DirectX versions higher 3 if you install in the following order: 1. Installation of the DirectX driver - after that - 2. Installation of the miro Driver Software. 1.14 Microsoft Windows95 OEM Service Release2 (4.00.950b) To run the miroMEDIA View/TV with Microsoft Windows95 OSR2 you must install the actual Windows95 system-software V2.10. 1.15 Microsoft Windows 98 We have tested succesfully the actual Windows95 driver V2.10 for the miroMEDIA 3D + miroMEDIA TV upgrade within Windows 98 and DirectX5 or DirectX6.
2. miroMEDIA Manager 2.1 Installation For information on installing the driver software, refer to the Quick Installation Guide and the messages during the installation procedure. 2.2 A satellite receiver or VCR connected to the antenna input cannot be detected while searching the stations. The incoming signal from the device is probably too weak. A special tool which can be used to select an eligible channel for the device is available free of charge in the miro mailbox (MEDIA area, file: tvtst16.zip). This allows you to adjust the device in question to this channel. In addition, check the type of connection of the components. The miroMEDIA View cannot receive composite and/or SVHS signals at its antenna input. 2.3 How to save videotext pages. The videotext pages can be saved in various formats or copied into the clip board via a key combination (see appendix) and/or mouse-key combination (see below). Keep in mind that some of the key combinations may already be assigned to other functions by other active applications. 2.4 Can the miroMEDIA Manager also be installed under Windows3.xx? The miroMEDIA Manager was specifically developed only for Windows95. The application can also be installed under Windows3.xx, though. However, you may experience some problems when running it under Windows3.xx. 2.5 The TV tuner option cannot be started. It is important to install the TV driver as well when installing the Windows driver for miroMEDIA View. The TV driver is not marked as a default for selection and may have to be installed afterwards. 2.6 The miroMEDIA Manager cannot be operated with the miroMEDIA Remote, but the mouse pointer can be moved with the remote control. Check the hardware configuration of the miroMEDIA Manager. Make sure that the component miroMEDIA Remote was added to the current hardware selection with the help of the application ´Add new hardware´ (miroMEDIA Manager program group). 2.7 The TV tuner image remains black after a repeated program search. No need to worry. The station search is nevertheless repeated correctly. 2.8 After starting the miroMEDIA manager the complete volume controls are set to minimum or maximum in spite of individual presets. Please delete the "Windows Sound System" component from the miroMEDIA Manager Hardware Configuration in "Add new hardware". Then connect all components (with an audio output, e. g. miroMEDIA View, CD-Rom, etc.) to the "Sound Box". 3. miroMEDIA Remote 3.1 Installation You can install the Windows95 driver for the miroMEDIA Remote with the help of the hardware assistant in the program group Control Panel/Add New Hardware (except in connection with a PS/2 mouse). Choose the manual hardware selection and then the item "Other Devices". Now, enter the path \DISKSETS\REMOTE from one of the two miro installation CD-ROMs by selecting "Have Disk", "Browse". 3.2 Problems with the mouse pointer (e.g. jerking, jumping). Do not expose the receiver to direct sunlight or artificial light. 3.3 The remote control does not function in combination with a Logitech mouse. We are already aware of a few cases of problems in combination with Logitech mouse drivers. Install a Microsoft compatible mouse driver instead. 3.4 There is no driver for Windows 3.xx on the installation CD-ROM. The miroMEDIA Manager and the miroMEDIA Remote were only developed specifically for Windows95. There is no Windows3.xx driver. 3.5 The remote control does not function in combination with a PS/2 mouse. Important: You must not install the Windows95 VXD driver for the miroMEDIA Remote. If you have already installed this driver, delete the ´miroMEDIA Remote´ entry under the MOUSE section in the Windows95 Device Manager. With the help of the ´Add New Hardware´ application (miroMEDIA Manager program group), add the miroMEDIA Remote component to the current hardware selection. Then, with the ´User Configuration´ (miroMEDIA Manager program group) in the Remote menu, select the correct COM port (COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4) for the receiver. 3.6 Microsoft Windows 98 We have tested succesfully the miroMEDIA Remote with driver ver. 3.0 and Windows 98 without any problems. We recommend first to install a serial standard mouse driver and after that enter the device manager - mouse - driver actualize. Locate the mdremote.inf file of the miro driver and install it. Connect the miroMEDIA Remote adapter on Com Port 1 with a serial mouse. 4. What else can you do If it is not possible to solve your problem on your own, you can phone the miro Support Hotline. You can also send a fax or E-Mail with a description of the problem to miro Technical Support.
