The DOS sound playback of all miroSOUND FM/PCM sound cards can
be initialized with the DOS based program SNDINDOS.EXE.

Note: This stand-alone program is also part of the miro Windows95
system-software for miroSOUND series and will be copied into the
\WINDOWS directory during installation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usage:

SNDINDOS.EXE [options]

<options>
/? or /H displays the help screen
/C manual configuration
/V view configuration
/Q quiet initialization
/P init via ISA PnP instead of using SOUNDCFG.INI
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuration in DOS:

1. Boot your Computer with a DOS system or close Windows95 and
boot down to MS-DOS 7.x mode.

2. Enter

   SNDINDOS /C <Enter>

in the command prompt (if SNDINDOS.EXE cannot be found then enter the
   directory where SNDINDOS.EXE is located).

In the upcoming configuration screen you can move between the different
options with your mouse or keyboard. To use the mouse you must have
loaded a DOS mouse driver before.

   Keyboard control:

   <TAB> move between the boxes
<Arrow keys> select the option in a box
   <Space> enable the option

3. The following setups are available:

3.1 "Digital Audio Mode"

You can select between "Soundblaster Pro" or
     "Windows sound system".
Which one you select depends on the DOS game or the DOS application.
E.g. if a DOS game supports both modes then we recommend to select
"Windows sound system" to get a higher sound playback quality.

"Older game compatiblility": this option should be activated
when you get sound playback problems with some old DOS games.

3.2 " Port "

Selection of the address for "Soundblaster Pro" or "Windows sound system"
     mode.

3.3 "IRQ" Interrupt Request (only "Soundblaster Pro" mode)

Interrupt for the wave sound playback.
This value should only be changed when getting sound playback problems.

3.4 "DMA" Direct Memory Access (only "Soundblaster Pro" mode)

DMA - channel for the wave sound playback.
This value should only be changed when getting sound playback problems.

3.5 "Mixer"

The mixer address should only be changed when getting sound playback
     problems.

3.6 "MPU-401 / Gameport"

If you want to use a Joystick connected to the Gameport of
your miroSOUND card you must enable this option.

"MPU-401" is only available for the miroSOUND PCM12 and PCM20 and
activates General MIDI playback for DOS.

3.7 "MPU Port"

     MPU-401 address for miroSOUND PCM12 and PCM20.

3.8 "MPU IRQ"

MPU-401 Interrupt request for miroSOUND PCM12 and PCM20.

3.9 "Volume"

     miroSOUND PCM1 pro, PCM12 and PCM20:

7 channel mixer (Master, Wave, Aux1,
                        Aux2, CD, Line, Mic)

     miroSOUND FM10 and PCM10:

3 channel mixer (Wave, CD, Line)

You can change the volume for each channel (both, left, right) with
     the mouse or the keyboard.

     Keyboard control:

<Arrow keys up/down> change between the channels
     <Arrow keys left/right> increase/decrease the volume
     <Shift> + <Arrow keys left/right> increase/decrease the left volume
     <Control> + <Arrow keys left/right> increase/decrease the right volume

4. To save the changes please select "OK" and press <Enter>. The settings
will be saved in the file SOUNDCFG.INI.

5. To get the stored configuration on every DOS system start just
   call

     SNDINDOS.EXE

without any options. You can run it manually or add an entry to your
     DOS system AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Note: The miro Windows95 system-software for the miroSOUND PCM/FM series
does not need SNDINDOS.EXE! The card will be initialized by the
	   miro Windows95 system-software.

6. PnP configuration for DOS

The miroSOUND PCM12 PnP can assign some settings (see below)
of the configuration for itself (Plug -and- Play).

     Call
            SNDINDOS /P

     to start the PnP configuration.

     PnP settings:

     - MPU-401 Port and Interrupt
     - Soundblaster Port
     - Windows sound system - Port
     - Mixerport

The interrupt and DMA for "Soundblaster Pro" mode will be
set to standard values. To change these settings you must
     call

     SNDINDOS /P /C

The saved settings will be written to the file SOUNDCFG.INI and
into the Plug-and-Play registers of the OPTI-924 sound chipset.

Note: Problems with the PnP configuration on some mainboards
are known by us. These are general problems of the
           OPTI-924 sound chipset.

7. To get an option overview call

     SNDINDOS /?

Note: The default path for the configuration file SOUNDCFG.INI
is set by the environment variable PCM20INIT.
This variable will be set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT when you
have installed the actual miro Windows95 system-software.

      SET PCM20INIT=C:\WINDOWS

If this environment variable is not set - the SOUNDCFG.INI
will be saved in the directory where you start SNDINDOS.
