FAQsBIOS Information
Q: How can I find out what bios verison is on my motherboard? A: To find the motherboard bios version:
The BIOS infomation is on the right hand side.
Q: When I try to run ELSAview 3D I receive a message saying "unlicensed copy from ELSAview 3D. Abort". A: Only ELSA GLoria cards support ELSAview 3D. Other graphic cards from ELSA, for example the WINNER 2000/Office, WINNER 2000PRO/X or the WINNER 3000-M/L don't support ELSAview 3D.
Fixed Frequency Monitor Support Q: I have a fixed frequency monitor. How do I install Windows NT 4.0? A: For this problem you can use the Monitor Control. You will find it under Starting Menu/Control Panel/MONCTRL. The configuration options are described as follows. In multi-screen configurations, you can select the monitor for which the timing should be set. Timings This entry determines how the timing file should be used. IGNORE: All entries in the timing file are ignored, which means it is not employed. PREFER: Resolutions of the timing file are preferentially treated. If a resolution provided in a timing file is also providedby a driver, the data of the timing file will be accepted, and the data of the driver are rejected.Driver resolutions without a corresponding timing are acceptedunchanged.NOTE: Using new drivers, it is possible that no resolution of the timing file is accepted, because of the multitude of timings offered. It is advised to use the setting "Exclusive". EXCLUSIVE: All standard resolutions are rejected. Only resolutions from the timing file are available. Monitor Timings File The monitor timings are stored in this binary piece of data. The values of the timing file are accepted by MonCtrl and transferred to the list of disposal resolutions. Description of Timing File Format The file including the timing entries has the ending ".TIM". It contains lines with ASCII text which work with all editors (e.g. NOTEPAD.EXE). The first line contains a text to indicate the monitor. This text is registered in the MonCtrl tool of the monitor list. In each of the following lines the timing is defined. Furthermore, each line contains 14 values separated by commas, describing the timing. The following parameters can be entered here (order as in the file):
Note: It is necessary to indicate the parameters. The indications xRes, yRes, Bpp and Hz are not enough by fix-frequenz-monitor.
Q: Tell me more about MAXtreme.
Q: What is the problem? Given a large scene in MAX, the user may select a small object in the scene and move it. HEIDI (SZB) can implement this by simply redrawing the affected area of the display, whereas OpenGL must currently redraw the entire display. Therefore the SZB may only need to draw a few polygons to move the object, but OpenGL would need to draw tens or hundreds of thousands of polygons. This same problem can be seen not only when a user moves an object in a large scene, but also when s/he: - applies a texture to a single object in a large scene - edits a camera path in a large scene (e.g. moves a spline in the scene) All of the above situations are examples of the same problem: the software architecture difference between HEIDI and OpenGL.
Q: What is the solution?
Multi-Screen Support Q: Which graphic cards support multi-screen? A: See this list for WINDOWS 95, WINDOWS NT4.0
Multi-Screen Support Under Windows NT Q: How do I install multi-screen under Windows NT 4.0? A: You can install the multi-screen with all our current GLoria cards (except the GLoria-XXL), WINNER 3000 M/L- and WINNER 2000PRO/X. You must have two or more of the same graphic cards in your system. The multi-screen driver for Windows NT is the same as the normal display list driver. It automatically detects the other cards and offers multi-screen resolutions. For example, you can set the resolution to 1600 x 600, which is the same as two screens with 800 x 600.
Multi-Screen with AGP and PCI Graphic-Cards Q: Is it possible to merge AGP and PCI cards for multi-screen? A: Yes, you can. You have only one AGP slot, therefore for multi-screen to work you must use an additional PCI card of the same kind. For example 1 GLoria-Synergy-AGP and 1 GLoria-Synergy-PCI would be possible for a dual screen solution. Note: For each additional monitor you need a PCI card. They must however be the same controller.
Multi-screen and Video-IN/Video-OUT Functionality Q: Is it possible to use the Video-IN and Video-OUT on the GLoria Synergy after installing the multi-screen driver? A: No, you can't. The current driver for Windows NT 4.0 supports Video-IN and Video-OUT, but when you use the multi-screen function it doesn't work.
OpenGL support in Quake II for VICTORY Erazor Q: How do I get OpenGL support in Quake II for my VICTORY Erazor card? A: Download and install driver version 4.10.01.2103.367. Within Quake II, go to -Video - Driver - select "Default OpenGL"- Apply. You now have OpenGL support in Quake II.
Q: What type of operating system does your driver support for your ELSA board? A: Please see the list below. ELSA GLoria Series
ELSA VICTORY Series
ELSA WINNER Series
Q: What kind of surface can I use with my graphic board? A: See in the table.
Q: Which graphic boards support POWERdraft for ACAD R14? A: All POWERlib based graphic boards support the POWERdraft driver. This includes WINNER 2000PRO/X, WINNER 3000-M/-L, GLoria-L, GLoria-L/MX, GLoria-XL, GLoria-XXL and GLoria Synergy. Q: Does POWERdraft work under ACAD LT 97? A: No, you can't use it. The ACAD LT 97 doesn't have the ARX-Port like the ACAD R14. The POWERdraft driver is based on this port. Q: Which graphic boards support ELSAview 3D? A: All OpenGL based graphic-boards support ELSAview 3D. This includes GLoria-L, GLoria-L/MX, GLoria-XL, GLoria-XXL and GLoria Synergy. GLoria Synergy AGP with SuperMicro P-6 Q: Is the GLoria Synergy-AGP card compatible with the SuperMicro P-6 motherboard? A: Yes. Bios version 8.04.03 for the GLoria Synergy-AGP enables full support.
Video-IN Overlay Sizes for VICTORY Erazor
ELSA VICTORY Erazor True Color (16.7 M colors)
P.S. - with 256 colors no overlay is possible, preview is ok, but the quality of the video window is poor. Directions only for the Erazor: when the the color depth was changed, it has to be restarted, because the video-capture-driver will deactivate. |
