Testing graphics cards for speed involves running what is called a benchmark, where each card is run through the same operations, which are calculated by the test computer and output as a number for comparison. The higher the number, the faster the graphics card. In this case, the cards tested were run using three of Ziff-Davis Publishing's graphics accelerator benchmarks: Winbench, and the High-end Graphics WinMark. All of the tests were performed on a 266 MHz Pentium II.
